'Ascent' Pre-release

Happy 2007! After extensive planning, research and development, we are excited to take this opportunity to announce our new Open Practice Product Strategy which will be rolled out this year.

Open Practice will be moving forward with formal product names rather than version numbers. This is primarily due to customer feedback and to ensure we continue to remain relevant to the entire Legal market.

Open Practice 5.1 as we currently know it will now be known as Open Practice ASCENT. Given this has always been our flagship product and with the large amount of features this product currently has, it does allow firms to continue to grow and use these over a period of time; therefore it is a scalable solution.

We are pleased to announce that the formal release of ASCENT will be available to all of our existing CFP Subscribing Customers within the coming weeks.

For clients who are currently using Version 5.1 – this simply means that a new Update (previously Service Pack) will be available to download in the normal fashion from the CFP website. Formal release materials will be sent to all clients when it is available.

Whilst the Update will include many important functionality and compliance updates, you will notice that the product branding in the splash screen and other areas of Open Practice will now reflect the ASCENT branding.

The ASCENT Update will be a cumulative program update and will provide the perfect opportunity for all existing 5.1 users to become up to date with 1 simple Update immediately.

It is important to note that we will be maintaining our existing streamlined upgrade process, which means that there are no new extraordinary requirements for clients using earlier versions to upgrade to ASCENT.

Please look out for the ASCENT release communication containing more extensive information about the Update content as well as Update instructions.

Also targeted for the coming months is the release of Open Practice APEX > an enterprise solution to optimize your business operations.

APEX is recommended for firms with 50 concurrent users and above and again, will be available via an upgrade path for existing clients that may be interested in this product.

Whilst more comprehensive information about this product will be distributed closer to its release, APEX delivers advanced functionality including:

  • Advanced and user configurable reporting in real time
  • Accelerated billing procedures
  • Automated workflow control
  • User definable segmental accounting
  • Enhanced (advanced) security
